Wash Basin

The Wash basin, Laver: No measurements were given and no wood component. Moses was told to build it out of pure copper. Ex.30:18; 38:8; 40:30
At the end of Exodus, Ex.38:8, we see it was built from the polished copper mirrors of the women who served outside the gate. In it was kept water that had to come from a moving spring or stream (living water), and from here the Priests would take out water to wash their hands and feet before they did the work of sacrifice and before going on duty into the Holy Place.  Ex.30:19-21; 40:31&32. The Levites on duty would be bringing water from the spring or stream all day. (God made sure they camped near a spring or a stream. See the places mentioned in the extra study material)

In (Ps.51:2, 7) Ps.119:9 we see cleansing by God’s Word; cleansing by the washing of the Word, Eph.5:26. (The Water of The Word) Also in 1 John 1:9, we come to The Word (Yeshua) to confess our sins, and He forgives us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
Also Yeshua promised to give us springs of living water; to those who believe in Him Jn.4:13&14; Jn.6:35; Jn.7:37&38.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   In fact who IS the Word of God? John clearly states “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God Jn.1:1, and in Jn.1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…. Where did John see this? One out of many scriptures, is Isaiah 55:10&11 “the same as I send the rain and the snow to water the earth and make the plants to grow, and give seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so also I send My Word from My mouth; It will not return to me empty but will do what I please and It will accomplish The Matter for which I sent It..  When I read this in Hebrew, the word for accomplish is Hitzleach . Not just accomplish but Totally Succeed in The Matter for which I sent It.  The Word of God is active today as we read His written Word and allow His Spirit to activate it in our lives. Yet The Word has come and Totally Succeeded inThe Matter of Salvation for which He was sent and has Returned to Heaven from whence He came!!
Also Yeshua said to the woman at the well “if only you knew Who it is asking, ’give me a drink’ you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water. Jn.4:10.Yeshua offered living water to a non Jew, a dispissed half breed; which showed God is offering salvation to all mankind. This became abundantly clear after Messiahs resurrection, as we see in the accounts throughout The Acts of the Apostiles. In Mark 4 also when Yeshua offered the Samaritan woman Living water, she asked Him how; was He greater than Jacob who gave them the well? Mark 4:11-12. Yeshua replied that the water He was talking about was Salvation, Mark 4:14 "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." Later when she asked where was the true place to worship, Yeshua told her that true worship is in spirit and truth. Mark 4:21-24. He also revealed to her who He was, after she said that she knew the Messiah is coming. Mark 4:26, Yeshua said to her, "I who speak to you am He." Amazing! Revealed to a non Jew, even a dispised half-breed, and a woman!

Water from The Rock in the Desert incidents (see Extra study)

You cannot limit God’s word nor springs of living water, therefore it is interesting that God put no limits on the Tabernacle wash basin. Also, no wood (human) element.

The Building

The Building was Acacia wood panels covered in Gold (representing righteousness). Each panel was 10 by 1 ½ cubits. There were 20 panels on each side, 6 across the back and 2 at the back corners. Each panel had 2 silver (representing redemption) bases that it slotted into and the panels had points and holes so they fitted together side by side. Then there were 5 rods; 4 on the outside with rings and a 5th that went through the middle of the panels. So it made a very strong building but easy to put up and take down. Ex.26:15-30; 36:20-34.
Everyone had their job. Mererri family had 4 ox carts and they were responsible for all the heavy items of bases, pillars, posts, panels.
Gershon family had 2 ox carts and they were responsible for the Tabernacle coverings and the courtyard curtains. But Kahat family had 0 ox carts as they had to hand carry the covered Holy items. (Aaron & his sons had to cover the Holy items first as no-one was to look at them.) At that time there were 8,580 Levite men from age 25 to 50 (Nu.8:24-26) who could work in the Tabernacle, so it was a small army would come to pack, move and set up again. Each had their own job and it was very organized. (details in the extra study notes).

The building can be seen as a picture of those humans (wood) who have accepted what Christ has done on their behalf, have repented and are now clothed in the Robe of Righteousness (Gold) Rom.3:22; Rom.5:18&19; Is.61:10; Phil.3:9; 2Peter 1:1; . Each grounded in Redemption (Silver) and side by side like living stones 1Peter 2:4&5; held together by the 5-fold ministry of Christ, that He gave to His body, Eph.4:1-16. Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of service.
